Lokmanya Medical Research Centre (LMRC) is a renowned Nonprofit NGO registered under Public Charitable Trust (F/2871/Pune-12/07/1985) and registered society (Maharashtra /1984/85/Pune). LMRC is also recognized as Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation by Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India engaged in Community health development and sustainable solutions to various Medico- social, economic and environmental challenges. Lokmanya has undertaken various impactful campaigns that fuel Lokmanya mission of “Reaching the Unreached” through sustainable community development projects namely Cancer Awareness, Early Detection and cancer care, Anti-Tobacco Campaigns, Safe Life Initiative on Road Safety and Accident Injury Prevention Research and Pre Hospital Emergency Care Services, Reproductive Child Health, HIV-AIDS intervention and Occupational Health etc.
We are immensely pleased to inform you that Lokmanya has launched Lokmanya Holistic Cancer Care & Research Center a state-of-the-art integrative Cancer treatment model. Lokmanya has been committed to raising Cancer awareness, promoting early detection, definitive treatment and research in support of cancer patients, families, and communities touched by cancer and remain steadfast in its mission to save lives by fighting tirelessly to prevent and cure cancer and to improve the quality of life for survivors.
Pune happens to be the Tenth leading sites of cancer in India. Cancer is estimated to strike about 5000 new patients every year in Greater Pune & Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal and surrounding rural area. The numbers of poor people needing the early cancer diagnosis and treatment are too large for the physical, financial and managerial resources currently available.
Lokmanya has launched Collaborative Cancer Campaign (not-for-profit public benevolent programme). With an aim to provide and increase access to Cancer Care to marginally weaker and poor population with respect to Primary Cancer Care, Cancer Prevention / Screening and quality Cancer Care by eliminating barriers (Geography, Transportation, income, information access and psychosocial).
Taking Prevention of Cancer and Cancer health care to the reach of the economically weaker and marginalized rural population is the basic principle behind this initiative. This programme will go a long way in improving the quality of care and outcome of cancer patients in rural and unreached areas of Pune district.
